Thanks for the info Lou! This definately seems like a good idea. Along the same lines, something we’ve done in the past is to burn a bunch of CD’s under the brand “Homegrown Classics”. They include a few tracks from our studio recordings, but mainly include decent sounding demos and jams. Being somewhat on the fringe of being called a Jam Band, we’ve found that supplementing the live show with a CD of additional material allows us to reach a slightly larger audience.
I think the lesson is we should all be doing something to engage and connect fans after the show. The live show is often times the first impression and creative. The key is coming up with unique ways to give the fans access to you afterwards and more importantly always thinking about ease of sharing. We want them to tell their friends.

Hi Lou!
Very cool post and video – do you mind if I talk about it on our blog?
What we’re working on I guess is the digital version of this pamphlet
Although a paper version is obviously a great novelty item!
One of the the features I think is really important for this kind of content-platform (whether it be digital or physical) is the ability for bands sharing a gig to share the same “pamphlet”. So instead of having one pamphlet per band, you have a “mini-book” that provides the information for all the bands – a kind of interactive flyer if you will.
Since every band will most likely hand out the pamphlet (or promote the mobile URL) to their respective fan-bases, it means the bands pool their fan-bases together and increase the chance that they’ll gain some new fans that night.
Anyways great idea!

Hey Greg,
Glad you liked the post! Feel free to riff on the idea in your blog and even embed the video if you want. Be sure to send me a link of the post when it goes live. This post sparked ideas for other people as well and I’m thinking about doing a followup to show some of the things other bands did with this concept.

Awesome! We will be using this great idea. Had thought about it a long time ago but never followed up on the concept. Headed to Memphis in January and will be taking the band info pamphlet with us. Thanks. Peace!

That is a fantastic idea – though not the first person to give out an information leaflet of some kind – one of the better examples! So many times gig listings/promotional flyers get used as coasters – because all they have is bad artwork, a couple of gigs listed and a myspace.
This on the other hand has real useful information, and allows you to go into more detailed information, and probably a hell of a lot cheaper to produce, you could do this yourself.
I personally got started on the idea of a demo cd business card – on it has the track listings, their times (for radio), myspace, email, phone number, photo and a couple of other pieces of information printed onto the cd.
If you’re going to be handing out things – make it useful I’d say, and I’d say this lad has done just that!

Very good idea, may ad snippets of the band live shows they have done in the past. If you going to be doing a cd.
