With the rising cost of gasoline, among other things, touring artists are finding it necessary to get more and more creative to cut their costs. There are many ways to do this as long as you don’t mind not living like a princess while you’re on the road.

Cash Conservation Lesson #1: Eating On the Road.

(Warning: Coffee makers and irons are not intended and should not be used to do anything other than make coffee and take wrinkles out of clothes, respectively. This article is for humor purposes only. But these instructions really do work.)

___Coffee Maker- That coffee maker in your motel room can be a great, versatile meal maker. (Clean it before cooking food with it- you wouldn’t want your meal to taste like old coffee.)

Couscous, rice, and macaroni: Check out the instructions on the package and add the right amount of water to the coffee maker. Add your rice/couscous/macaroni/etc. to the coffee pot. Leave the burner on until the rice and completely cooked and absorbed most of the water (about 5-10 minutes).

Steamed vegetables: Add broccoli, carrots, squash slices, cauliflower, etc. to the filter of your motel coffee maker. Add and run water through the coffee maker several times until they’re cooked to your preferred tenderness.

Fondues and Sauces: Make easy sauces by running liquids through the coffee maker such as cream, butter, etc. (You’ll want to make sure to wash the coffee maker after this one.)

Delicious dessert: Heat 1/2 cup cream in the coffee maker. Add a 12-ounce bag of good bittersweet chocolate chips and stir constantly until melted and smooth. Serve with whole strawberries, sliced banana, pound cake, dried apricots, and/or marshmallows for dipping.

___Ice Bucket- Healthy eater’s best friend

That big ice bucket can also operate as a container to marinade vegetables, chicken, and more.

_________Convenient salad bowl? Indeed.___

___Iron- The littlest skillet

Grilled Entrée: Turn your clothing iron up to the highest setting and set it with the hot plate up. Wrap chicken, veggies, fish, etc. in foil and place in on your new mini skillet to cook.

Delicious sandwiches: Butter the outside of two slices of bread. Place contents of your sandwich in between and put sandwich on a piece of foil. (I prefer gourmet grilled cheese- simply Havarti dill cheese and tomato). Lightly press iron on the buttered sides of the sandwich until bread is golden and contents are warm. Voila!

This was so hilarious! I nearly peed my pants! What wit! And scarily enough, I know some bands who do rough it. Thanks for the great humor! Look to see more posts from you. In R’n'R, ~Linette
